St. Peter's Episcopal Church (Charleston, S.C.) was incorporated in Dec. 1833 and the church on Logan St. was consecrated in Dec. 1835. By 1841 its congregation consisted of 132 white families and forty-five colored families. In the summer of 1844 it opened a day school for African-American children, and in 1859 it organized "St. Peter's Colored Sunday School."
